Lesson 1: Feminist Analysis in Business: 

Part of our job as feminists is to continue to critique our complicity within systems that have conditioned us to act unconsciously because of the privilege and circumstances within which we were raised. That means all of us (myself included) will continue to stumble our way through the creation of a more ethical world (and business building process!). This module is a values practice so you can stand by your decisions and make choices that future you will thank you for even if I can’t save you from being cringe on the internet because that is part of experimenting with marketing, I can support you in standing by the way you show up for yourselves and your clients with integrity.

This lesson also includes a never-before-seen look at my business model.
Not so you can replicate it (because you are a special snowflake and there is no cut-and-paste in business) but so you can see how this works, how I think about this with my clients, and how you can start to understand what you probably haven’t considered as far as profit is concerned.

Lesson 2: Exploitative Marketing -> Empathetic Marketing:

Maybe you avoid marketing because you feel like in order to do it well you have to figure out some kind of hack that feels wildly inauthentic, perform for the algorithm, or spend a bunch of time trying to make content only for it not to even work.

Here, you will learn how feminist marketing is empathetic not exploitative. I teach marketing like community organizing. You’ll get prompts for how to authentically talk to your ideal client from a place of resonance, as well as tangible strategies for implementation. You’ll leave ready to share yourself online in a way that is supportive for your nervous system. We also provide you with prompts to get you started and guidelines for exactly what metrics to pay attention to for growth. There is a lot of bad advice out there about this–here you’ll learn what actually matters so you can spend your time focusing on that and not vanity metrics that make you feel bad about yourself.

Lesson 3: Extractive Sales -> Ethical Sales:

Did you get an 8 page sales script from your certification that told you to sell $5000+ coaching services on 20 minute sales calls? Did it make you go, “What! No! Please!” Did someone tell you to charge thousands out the gate and you didn’t know if that felt right for you? Did a coach give you the advice of coaching on someone's objectives in a way that felt more like asking people to violate their boundaries? Hi, I'm Cara!

I got my degree in Intersectional Feminism the same year I was diagnosed with a chronic medical condition and unceremoniously kicked off of student health insurance upon graduation (pre the Affordable Care Act) As a new grad with a condition that required ~$2k a month in out of pocket medical expenses and no job prospects…I was radicalized.

I trained to be a therapist, and wound up a feminist business mentor helping under-valued care professionals and service providers create the financial freedom and flexibility they deserve. I teach coaching through the lens of social justice and trauma-informed care…meaning I have made over $2.5 million dollars with sliding scale, payment plans, and no sleazy coercive sales techniques. And I help you do the same! I live in Los Angeles with my arthritic geriatric corgi and occasionally offer birth chart readings…just because I love astrology so much.
